La Danse is a flurrying, bustling Cosmogramma-like number with a mad rhythm section by Kaytranada

Many a dope Hip Hop track has slipped by undetected in the abundance of quality material that our stateside brethren are throwing out right now. If other listeners are anything like me, they will understand what I mean when I say that in my cocoon, the walls are made of thugged-out blips, heavy 808s and trill hi-hats, and it really is quite difficult for the more organic sounds of the genre to burst through and catch my attention. However, this does happen from time to time. Kaytranada and Aminé have just proved that it is possible.
La Danse is a flurrying, bustling Cosmogramma-like number with a mad rhythm section by Kaytranada which runs at quite a pace, giving the listener a feel of coming dangerously close to tripping over their own heels as they orientate themselves in Aminé’s braggadocious bars. This mad scramble over the track makes the stop and dead-the-lights moment with the appearance of the catchy vocal hook have a real impact – by all counts, a well-executed number by the duo.
This 20 year-old Portland-based artist clearly has an awful lot going for him right now, making some very tasteful choices with his musical style and the producers he collabs with.
Keep hammering on those blippy cocoon walls of mine homie, you might just bring them down by the end of this year.
